What is there in the old that keeps us going back for more? No one has the definite answer; for most people old has the power to revive memories. For others, old is the past that cannot be forgotten, or that in which one can escape the present. This question applies to old cinemas. What makes people love the old cinema and talk about them endlessly? Most old films were made at a time, when films could not be in a digital format. They needed to be taken to Mumbai for the finishing touch, and the budget invested was low. Nonetheless, of the list, people still remember Maitighar and Paral ko Aago of the pre-color era. There is a crowd that wants to watch movies, like Jeevan Rekha and Sindur time and again.
Samjhana and Kusume Rumal have a cult following among the audience. The actors were great in their roles, and the technicians have done as much with what little resources they had. Of the old Nepali movie list, some of my own favorites include Basudev, Prem Pinda, Behuli and Balidan, among others. It is for sure that I will watch Basudev and Balidan a hundred times, and not feel at the least bored. One of the things that make these films stand out is the storyline. The old films have a great storyline, or at least believable storyline. It also is the background scores and the play back singing that makes anyone love them. The songs are so simple, but beautiful and can be hummed anytime.
The more one learns, the more one understands and can make important changes to a product.
