It seems that a new era has begun in Nepali movie singing; the rise in the number of Nepali movie songs by Anju Pant have made the audience feel that there is no lack of talent in Nepal. Her career in movies has not been a decade old but still she rules the charts. There is a demand for her voice, in most of the movies made these days; it can be said that it is her time and age in the Nepali movie singing. Kina udyo pankhi mana from the movie Bagar is her first Nepali movie song, and she has not had to look back. She has also lent her voice to the songs, Ma Timi Bina Marihaalchhu, form the movie of the same name, Bhun bhun bolyo bhamara from Saput, Kismat’s Dil yo mero dil, and Dar’s Sustari sustari mannma. Some of her recent songs are, Kasle Choryo mero mann, the title song of the movie of the same name, Kohi Mero, which is also the title song of the movie.
She has sung more than a two hundred movie songs and continues to do playback singing. For her contribution in playback singing for Neplai movies, she has won two national film awards, this year alone. She won the best female playback singer for Silsila (2065) and Chodi Gaye Paap Laagla(2066). It is for sure that she will continue singing for the Nepali film industry, as there are no other singers, who can win the hearts of the audience, the music producers and composers, alike.
Anju Panta is one of the most famous female vocalists in Nepal. She is considered to be the next queen of melody after the Late Aruna Lama, which in itself is a great honor. Anju Panta is one of the most promising playback singers in Nepal today. This approximately 5 ft 2 inches tall lady was born to Bishnu and Mana Maya Panta. Although she didn’t belong to a musical family, it was her childhood dream to become a professional singer. It wasn’t long from then that she got offers from the Nepali movie fraternity to be a playback singer. Today, she is probably one of the most preferred voices in the movie industry. She has given her voice to many songs in many movies. Till date she has sung for some 180 films, both in duets and solos.
Her great tone quality, her clear pronunciations and her classical knowledge are the reasons for why she is such an amazing singer. The road to success has just started for her; she has a long way to go. She will probably be one of the most remembered singers of this era.
